Laboratoire National de métrologie et d'Essais
Founded in 1901, LNE (Laboratoire national de métrologie et d’essais), appointed by the French Ministry of Economy, is the leading French National Metrology Institute, responsible for ensuring the sustainability of the national measurement standards and the dissemination of the seven basic units of the International System of Units (SI) through appropriate traceability chains to industry and other end-users.
Relying on excellent scientific and technical skills, LNE’s research efforts have formed the basis of multiple applications: research and technology transfer in measurement science; testing and calibration; technical assistance for e.g. regulation and standardization; certification; training.
LNE is member of the international metrology organizations and of EURAMET, the European association of the national metrology institutes.
Useful skills
- Developpement and validation of quantum electrical standards and related instrumentation (for the volt, ampère and ohm units).
- Ultra-low noise and highly-accurate electrical measurements.
- Pioneer in the developpement of the quantum Hall resistance standard (notably using graphene devices).
